Formed in the late 1880s Cullingworth Conservative Club is a private members' club affiliated to the Association of Conservative Clubs.
The main part of the building in which it is housed dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries and was provided to the club by Sir Francis Sharp Powell MP who was then, and for many years thereafter, a major landowner in the village and surrounding area. The fully furnished club, then with the address of Towngate, was officially opened by Sir Francis in November 1891 when meeting with his tenants in the George Hotel, which was also in his ownership.
An excellent car park immediately opposite the club affords off-road parking with CCTV coverage for our members, their guests and visitors.
Over the past ten years a systematic programme of improvement has brought about a complete refurbishment of the club, both inside and out. The result is a comfortable and friendly atmosphere where all the family will receive a warm welcome in a club with the unique feel of a top quality public house.
Our latest project, opened at the end of May 2014, is a beautiful large orangery which opens out to a brand new paved patio giving a panoramic view of the open countryside.
